On March 17, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Natpatsaya Setthachotsombut from the College of Logistics and Supply Chain, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, representing Group 1 of the Academic Service Project for Society, visited Ban Khlong Yong Organic Agriculture Community Enterprise Group, located in Moo 1, Khlong Yong Subdistrict, Phutthamonthon District, Nakhon Pathom Province.
The
purpose of the visit was to plan and
discuss strategies to support a local
household (specializing in basil
cultivation) in enhancing its income
under the topic:
"Enhancing the
Supply Chain Management Efficiency of
Basil Products and Surrounding
Vegetables Group in the Community to
Increase Household
Income."
During the visit, Asst. Prof. Dr. Natpatsaya Setthachotsombut met with Mr. Paiboon Sawaddeejui, the president of the Ban Khlong Yong Organic Agriculture Community Enterprise Group (Tel: 087-169-0898), to discuss and plan the initiative together.
Currently, the group cultivates more than 20 types of crops on a rotational basis, including lemongrass, galangal, chili, Chinese kale, culantro, bok choy, banana, basil, winged beans, water spinach, lettuce, and guava, among others. The group's organic produce is in high demand among health-conscious consumers, with major distribution points at Sookjai Market, Mahidol University, and Silpakorn University.
However, the group is now exploring ways to add value to basil beyond selling it fresh. They are curious about what potential processed basil products could be developed to increase revenue for the community. However, from the joint planning meeting, it was concluded that the problem does not lie in product processing. There is no need to process the product or create a new one. Instead, the real issues that will help increase sales are:
Marketing
Branding
Brand Awareness
Storytelling
Buyer-Seller Connection System
Content Management
This information will lead to designing the desired outcomes and establishing urgent action plans to enhance household income in the next phase.
